The Gig Economy Hits the C-Suite

The business metrics make sense for CEO's to choose a soft landing for new executive hires

Mavenlink has published a report on the benefits of the gig economy structure to C-Suite offices. It draws many interesting conclusions but at its core it turns the belief in C-Suite permanence into question. At BrickBridges we think there is a better in between position to take.

56% of executives that are currently in full-time positions state they have done contract work in the past.

That is simply a number that was unheard of a decade earlier. Most executives will have been with 1-2 firms for their entire career. But now they are not only willing to move, they are actually doing it.

The trend is growing

As you can see, executives are looking to jump ship. With the right offering, most senior executives would sign up for the gig lifestyle. Jump in and out when they want to. Not be secured down to a single employer. Get teh diversity of opportunity when and only when they are seeking it. They have made good money and built a great career. Now they want the rich diversity that a growing market can provide them. And they want control.

And it ends up, employers are actively seeking them in the same way (see below). There is no doubt that there is a market for incredible executives seeking a different sort of engagement.
