The benefit of C-Level Executives with a sizable career break

We don't believe in hiring career break executives because of some soft commitment to helping out gender equality, it is simply an unfair advantage for BrickBridges

Salesforce put out a piece on folks with career gaps being a clear advantage to those making hiring decisions. They point out several benefits of hiring folks with gaps in employment and we embrace the same thoughts for executives. We provide a platform for these incredible executives because, well, they have advantages over other potential C-Level folks out there.


The case made by Salesforce and Manpower


The piece by Salesforce was based off of a study by Manpower Group in Milwaukee. The article makes several important points about what employers can do about the miss in hiring folks with employment gaps.


First we are in the midst of a hiring crunch and a war for talent. It is well beyond time to be searching with a wider net to acquire the best folks and the folks who took significant time off to care for kids, or care for parents, or simply to recharge batteries. Second, the piece focuses on the fact that salespeople don't lose sales skills. We would argue that executives similarly don't lose their executive presence, talent or drive. Third, they argue that customers might very well be seeking the insight that comes from having that experience. And finally that employers may be overlooking the opportunity to use internships to reintroduce these folks to the corporate world.

We call these folks Breakers, and we find them to be an unfair advantage for us. While it is unfortunate that the corporate world hasn't discovered this undervalued asset, we are happy to make incredible Breakers available to our clients as Bricks. They love the flexibility offered by our approach, enjoy the diversity of challenges and desire the impact they can have over and over again. Our clients benefit not only from depth of experience pre-break, but also real life context earned during the break and an even deeper clarity and sense of purpose from Breakers than they would have had if they had simply gone through the grind with no time doing work outside of the corporate realm.


Bricks Build Foundations

We are thrilled to be extending a platform to stupidly underutilized resources like Breakers. We hope the rest of the world realizes their value soon, but while they are still asleep, we will proudly take advantage and place Brick Breakers throughout corporate America.
